Sickle Cell - Town Hall MeetingsYou are invited to attend a Town Hall Meeting hosted by Sickle Cell Foundation of Palm Beach County and Treasure Coast, Inc. The focus of the meetings is to raise awareness of Sickle Cell Disease/Trait and to engage the community for concrete actions. Community members and leaders, elected officials, school personnel, and healthcare providers are all invited to join in the discussion. Sickle Cell Disease clients, their families, friends and caregivers will be in attendance to share the personal side of this disease and how it affects their lives and the lives of their families.

Town Hall meetings are free to the public and will be held on:

Attendees of the Town Hall Meetings will hear presentations on the history, symptoms, and statistics of Sickle Cell Disease/Trait as well as information on access to healthcare and the challenges of the lack of awareness of the disease, education and acceptance of this hereditary blood disorder. The goal of Sickle Cell Foundation of Palm Beach County and Treasure Coast, Inc. is to provide a range of services for Sickle Cell Disease/Trait clients and their families, including: appropriate medical and healthcare referrals; counseling to assist clients in learning about their illness; methods of disease control and pain management; educational presentations and seminars for medical, education, health/human services professionals, and the general public; support group activities; and the promotion of educational and recreational normalization activities.
